Metairie Baptist Missive
October 24, 2012
So the world will know, the saved will grow, and the church will go.
Good Wednesday Morning! I trust that you have had a good week of walking with Christ, having the opportunity to know Him better, and being used by Him in the lives of others. God is continuing to do exciting things through the members of MBC. I am rejoicing daily in His work within us and through us.
A week from today is the Fall Festival at Metairie Baptist! Remember that the event will take place on Oct. 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A supper will be served beginning at 4:30 p.m. for the church family. Eating early will allow the church family to be involved in the set up and in the ministry of the Fall Festival. This festival will be a chance for the families of our church and the families of our community to enjoy a safe and fun time together. We will have Trunk or Treat, inflatables for the children, food for all, and good fellowship. Please continue to pray for this ministry event. In addition, we are still in need of your help. How?
*. If you haven’t signed up to help, please consider doing so. A variety of opportunities exist – and you can see those on the sign-up sheets in the Orion Foyer. You may also call and speak with Melissa for more information or to sign up (504-835-2611).
*. We are gathering individually wrapped candy so that we can give this to the children who come to Trunk or Treat. You can bring your donations to the Orion Foyer.
*. We need you! Your presence is vitally important.
In preparation for the Fall Festival, would you make plans to join us for the blitz on Sunday? We want to put invitations to the Fall Festival on the doors of at least 1,000 homes in the immediate area around the church. In order to do this, we need you. The blitz will take place this Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Meet us in the Fellowship Hall – there you will receive an assignment with a specific area that you can blitz, and we will make certain you have someone to go with you.
Immediately after the Blitz, we will be hosting the Gathering in the Fellowship Hall. This will be a great time of church family fellowship. The Gathering will begin at 6:00 p.m. this Sunday evening. All are both invited and encouraged to attend whether you are able to attend the blitz or not. You will have the opportunity to meet people you may not know, to hear of upcoming mission projects, and to enjoy the time with fellow church members.
For the ladies, I remind you of the upcoming Ladies Retreat to be held on Nov. 9-10. You can find more information on the Women’s Ministry bulletin board or by contacting one of the members of the leadership team.
For the men, a breakfast is being held especially for you on Saturday, November 3 at 7:30 a.m. I can’t think of a better way to start at Saturday morning and look forward to meeting you there. Also, the men of the church will be gathering for fellowship on Nov. 18 – look for more details to come!
Tonight during the Bible study time, we will be hearing of the Gideon ministry. We have several members of our church who are Gideons and participate in their ministry. God has used this group to impact the world by their Scripture distribution and by other means. Come and hear about how God is working through them. We will also spend time in prayer as we always do on Wednesday nights.
Join us Sunday for Bible Study and Worship. I come each Sunday with the expectation that God is going to do a great work. When you come this week, would you come with hearts of expectation and prayer? By the way, if you have never attended Sunday School, you are missing a great opportunity to study the Bible and to meet new friends (as well as to fellowship with those you may already know). In case you don’t know where you should go during Sunday School, a group of people are in the Orion Foyer each Sunday to help you find the right place.
I look forward to seeing you tonight. May God bless you today with an awareness of His presence in your life.
On the journey,
