Metairie Missive

Metairie Baptist Missive
October 31, 2012
So the world will know, the saved will grow, and the church will go.

IT’S HERE!  Tonight is the Fall Festival at Metairie Baptist Church.  I trust that you have been praying for, preparing for, and planning on attending the Fall Festival.  Please make a commitment to come and share in the experience as we demonstrate love to our community and to our children.  We can still use your help so don’t hesitate to contact either Mitch or Melissa to ask how you can support this ministry.  In addition, come to enjoy the fun fellowship!  Remember the schedule:

*.  A hotdog meal will be served for the church family starting at 4:30 in the Fellowship Hall. This will allow us to be able to eat and to finish the set up.

*.  The Fall Festival will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. tonight.  Though it might be a little cool, the weather is going to be clear so dress warmly and come prepared to interact with those who attend.  As a church, we need you to mingle!

As regards other happenings at MBC:

Men – you are both invited and encouraged to attend the Men’s Breakfast this week at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Fellowship Hall.  This will be a time of encouragement and planning.  What a great way to start your Saturday morning!

On Sunday night at 6:00 p.m., the Church Council will meet in the Fellowship Hall.  Will you join us as we think through the holiday schedule and the upcoming year?  Your input is valuable and valued – so begin to pray now as you prepare and join us.  All are definitely invited and encouraged to attend.

The Deacon’s have planned an Ordination Service for Sunday night, November 11 at 6:00 p.m.  We are thankful for our newly elected deacons – three of which will be ordained on this night.  For all the ordained men of the church, the Ordination Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 11).   This is a memorable time in the life of each of these men and in the life of our church.  Make plans to be a part of this special service.

One last reminder – don’t forget to adjust your clocks.  On Saturday night, we will have Daylight Savings Time so be certain that your clocks fall back!  If you forget, you will have plenty of time to fellowship at church on Sunday morning.

As I close, I want to encourage you to pray for the services on Sunday as well.  Come with expectant hearts – expecting to hear God speak through Sunday School and the worship time.  If we come with expectant hearts, we are listening more closely for Him — and He wants us to know Him better.  Also, invite your friends and family to come with you – and if you have missed seeing someone in church lately, let them know that you missed them.

I am thankful for you and praying today for God’s blessings on your lives.  I look forward to seeing you tonight!

On the journey,
Thomas
