Good morning! I trust that you are all doing well—and staying warm! Having lived in New Orleans now for over 28 years, I am thankful for “this cold” weather we are experiencing as compared to the cold I hear that friends are experiencing in places such as Detroit and even Nashville. On the radio yesterday they were interviewing a woman who was expressing the challenge of living in a place where the high yesterday was 14 below zero –14 BELOW ZERO! I love south Louisiana!
I trust you have continued with your commitment to spend “21 Days” in prayer! The devotions have been meaningful and challenging. Just one quick note: as you were reading through the journal today, (we are on day 10) the correct Scripture reference should be Matt. 3:7-8 (not 17-18 as printed). If you are behind or haven’t started, join us today and begin the journey. If you have been keeping up, then press on. Remember that journals are available at church or you can download one at www.lbc.org/21days. As we were reminded today, repentance involves not only confessing what you will not do, but a confession of what you will do. What today is God calling you to confess?
Just a couple of quick reminders:
*. Tonight is business meeting! This is a chance to hear what is going on at the church from a business perspective –and you will hear of an exciting gift that has been given to the church for the purpose of ministry. The meeting begins at 6:10 p.m. Don’t forget to come early and join us for our Fellowship Supper which begins at 5:00 p.m.
*. The ladies will be enjoying a creative time of fellowship on Friday night at the “Cokes and Canvas” event. This really seems like an exciting time and I look forward to seeing the creative side of our ladies which will result in a beautiful painting! The fun begins at 7:00 p.m.
*. Our men’s ministry is getting involved in Disaster Relief! If you are interested or would like to find more information, a training event will be taking place on Feb. 2. More information and sign-up sheets are available at the church. Make plans to explore this ministry as a great opportunity to help others.
I look forward to seeing you tonight! Be certain of my prayers for you as we all seek to follow after Christ this year and be His disciple.
On the journey,
