Metairie Missive

Good morning! What an exciting week lies ahead. I have been praying and anticipating this week for months now – as have many of you. Now is the time – this is the opportunity that has been given to us. You might be thinking – “What is he talking about?” Family Ministry Day is this Saturday, March 16 beginning at 8:30 a.m. and concluding with lunch. As we approach this day, think about these matters:

+Make prayer a continuous priority as the day approaches. Pray for all those who will be participating and for all those who will be recipients of the ministry of Metairie Baptist.

+Prepare now to come. Volunteers are still needed to fill the ministry slots! You will be tempted to allow other events to prevent you from participating, but this is a special opportunity given to us by God to impact our community. A number of opportunities will be provided so that everyone with all types of interests can find something in which to participate. We will be washing cars, handing out flyers to our neighbors, visiting our local fire stations, encouraging our homebound members, and writing notes to/praying for our church family.

+Bring bottled water, snacks and deserts. As you come on Saturday morning, please bring these items so that we use them in the ministry opportunities of the day. Also, the deserts will be used as a part of the celebration lunch. All leftovers will be given to Friendship House and Global Maritime Ministry – so the ministry continues to spread! If you can’t come on Saturday, feel free to drop these items by the church throughout the week prior to Saturday.

+Men– join us at 7:30 a.m. to start the day in prayer and fellowship as we anticipate the day of ministry together.

+Make plans to enjoy the Celebration Lunch afterwards as we rejoice over the opportunities God has given us throughout the day – and we enjoy a meal together!

This is a going to be another great day for Metairie Baptist – don’t miss out on the blessing of being a blessing to others as we go “further into the world.”

A special MBC Anniversary Buffet is being planned for March 27 beginning at 4:30 p.m. We will be celebrating God’s faithfulness as we remember that Metairie Baptist Church has been in existence for 83 years! The buffet will be a great time of food and fellowship. Though the cost is the same, you will need to sign up for the meal by contacting the church office or signing up in the Orion Foyer.

NOTE THE TIME CHANGE! Due to the parade on Metairie Road this week, we are going to need to change the Church Council/Business Meeting time. Both of these will meet jointly and will begin at 6:00 p.m. I apologize for the late notice of the change but a concern was raised over whether you would be able to get to the church earlier. We will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m.

Don’t forget:

*Bible Study continues tonight at 6:10. These have been great studies and you will not want to miss out on what God is doing through these times.

*The Gathering is next Sunday night – March 24 at 5:00 p.m. We will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper together – this will be a great time of worship as we prepare our hearts for celebrating the resurrection of Jesus on Easter.

*Easter Sunday is going to be an exciting time as well. Sunday School begins at 9;15, breakfast for the entire church family and all visitors begins at 9:45, and corporate worship of the Resurrected Jesus begins at 10:30 a.m.

*We are still collecting for the Annie Armstrong Offering for North American Missions. You can support missions in the US by giving to this offering above and beyond your regular tithes and offerings.

*Thank you to all who helped and who supported our youth for the Jambalaya Fund Raiser. Thanks to you, the youth raised approximately $1,400!

Be blessed today and be a blessing!
