August is almost gone and it’s Wednesday! Time passes by so quickly. We are half way through this week. I trust that you have been seeking opportunities to be used by God to make a difference in your part of the world. With great joy, I have been thanking God for your faithfulness as you have been following after Him, and I want to encourage you to continue to do so in all the days ahead.
Melissa Moskau has worked as our church secretary for over three years now. After much prayer, Melissa has submitted her resignation as she is seeking after God’s next step for her ministry. Please be in prayer for Melissa. We are thankful for her and thankful for her participation in the ministry of Metairie Baptist. Also, be in prayer for the Personnel Committee as they meet to prepare for the future ministry at Metairie Baptist.
Helping Hands had a great day of ministry on Saturday. Thank you to all who came to help in various ways – from painting, to tree trimming, to yard work, to a host of other ways. Thank you for your willingness to demonstrate Christlike servanthood to others. By the way, Linda Bordelon does a tremendous ministry of coordinating Helping Hands. If you have something that needs to be done or if you would be willing to help, please contact Linda.
Thank you as well to all who helped with the Compassion Kits. Your response to the appeal to bring items was great. As a result of your generosity, over 150 kits were compiled. A special thanks also to the Evergreens who assembled the Compassion Kits. As you know, these kits provide an opportunity to help those who are homeless and hungry. Would you join me in praying that God would utilize each of these Compassion Kits given to someone? Also, you are encouraged to pick up a Compassion Kit to keep in your car to use for ministry as long as you are willing to make yourself available to give the Kit to someone.
During the Gathering, we enjoyed a great time of fellowship and also heard a challenging message. Some of you have asked if the message is available – and the good news is that it is available. You can view the message by following this link: http://lbc.org/2020/ . If you were unable to attend, this is an address that will challenge you to think through if we need to make adjustments in our strategies at MBC.
Sundaywas a great day! If you were in the morning service, you more than likely sensed the movement and working of the Spirit. I definitely felt His leadership in the service. Thanks for those who made the decision to be a part of the service. As you prepare to come this week, please make personal preparation and prayer a priority – asking the Lord to work both in your life and in the lives of all who come to each worship service. Pray the same for Sunday School as well.
We realize that this is Labor Day Weekend, but at Metairie Baptist Church it is also Promotion Sunday for our children and youth. Make Bible study in Sunday School and Worship a priority this week.
Personally, I would like to invite you to join me on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 11:00 a.m. in the Leavell Chapel on the campus of NOBTS. During this chapel service, I will have the opportunity to preach and would love for you to come if you are able. The service usually lasts about an hour. In addition, you can come and see all the work that has been done on the campus as we have been working continuously to restore the campus and to move forward. God is doing a great work at NOBTS and I am thankful for your continued prayer support for this ministry.
I look forward to seeing you tonight. In the meantime, though, be certain of my prayers for you. If you have a specific requests that you would like for which you would like for me to pray, don’t hesitate to let me know.
On the journey,
