Good morning! I trust that you are remembering that Jesus has “set us free” (Gal. 5:1) with the result that we have the opportunity to serve others through love and walk by the Spirit. My prayer has been and is that you would be found daily discovering the joy of the life that Christ has given you!
As you think through your week and the upcoming days, I would like to remind you of several matters related to Metairie Baptist:
1. The Fall Festival is October 31 from 6-9 p.m. Would you be willing to help with this very important ministry of Metairie Baptist? Here are some ways you can help:
a. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to this event. Handouts will be available at the church for you to utilize as you invite.
b. Volunteer to help the night of the festival – we need people to help in many different ways – hosting a game in the “trunk” of your car, helping with food, setting up and tearing down, providing help with the inflatables and games, assisting with registration, or mingling (yes, we need you to come and just visit with others attending).
c. Donate candy to be given away to those who come. You can bring individually wrapped candy to the church office anytime between now and the festival.
d. Pray – would you join us in praying that God would use this time for people to come to know Him and His love for them? Ultimately, everything we do at Metairie Baptist we do so that the “world will know, the saved will grow, and the church will go.”
2. Tonight is the last night of the current series of small group studies. I am confident that all who have participated in the studies has been impacted in a great way. Join me in making a commitment to continue next week as the new studies begin. If you were unable to attend the previous series, now is a great time to join the new ones as they begin next week. You can participate in one of the following:
a. “I Am A Church Member” taught by Betty Frechette for those ladies who were not a part of the study during the previous series or for any ladies who would like to attend.
b. “Deuteronomy: The Law of Love” taught by Traci Mares for the ladies who have been a part of “I Am A Church Member” previously or for any ladies who would like to attend.
c. “Romans: Sinners to Saints” taught by Mitch Mares for the men.
A special thanks to all who participated in these studies – and especially to Betty Frechette, Traci Mares, and Errol Wilken for their leadership/service.
3. We are looking forward to a great time together on Sunday. Someone asked me if we were doing anything special this week – and the answer is “YES.” Every Sunday is special in that we have a chance to come together as a church family for worship and encouragement. Join us at 9:15 for Sunday School/Bible study and at 10:30 for our worship time together.
4. We are facing a challenging season at Metairie Baptist related to our finances. These are not impossible days, but challenging days. I am rejoicing in your faithfulness and praying that all of us will continue to be responsive to God’s leading. Our stewardship and giving is an indication of our commitment to Christ and His work at MBC. Join me in praying for God’s continued provision for His church at Metairie Baptist – and for our responsiveness to His leading.
I am rejoicing in all that God is doing and look forward to seeing you tonight atMetairie Baptist. Remember – you are “on the way” so don’t be “in the way.”
On the journey,
