Good morning! I trust that you had a great weekend and enjoyed the time of celebrating our Mothers. I rejoiced over the day at church on Sunday as we were able to honor four of our most special Mothers: Mrs. Estelle, Mrs. Glenn, Mrs. Lora Mae, and Mrs. Martha. In addition, being able to celebrate the birth of four new children was wonderful. We prayed for and are thankful for Ellie Rose Rands, Jackson Bourne, and Marigny & Maignonne Rothermael. Also, a special thanks to the Bryson family for leading us in worship through their family quartet.
This week, I have graduation on my mind (among many other things). We are recognizing our graduates this Sunday as we celebrate their accomplishments and pray for God’s continued blessings on their lives. Personally, we will be celebrating Kathryn’s graduation from LSU on Thursday. In addition, I am looking forward to the Leavell College graduation on Friday (our own Sarah Guagliardo and Randy Reed will be graduating) and the NOBTS graduate school commencement on Saturday.
I did want to express my gratefulness to our deacons for their hosting of the breakfast on Senior Adult Sunday. They demonstrated their hearts as they prepared a wonderful breakfast and treated everyone to a special time of fellowship. Also, thanks to the choir for their willingness to go to Live Oak Baptist Church on Sunday night, May 4. At Live Oak, they helped to lead in worship for the revival service being held. Randy Reed preached that night as well – and we are thankful to God for the way He has used Randy in the life of MBC and the way he continues to use Randy.
Please keep these matters in mind as you prepare for the days ahead:
*Just a reminder that due to Mother’s Day, we have rearranged our schedule this month. Deacons’ meeting will be held this Sunday night at 5:00 p.m. and Business Meeting/Church Council will be next Sunday, May 25, at 5:00 p.m.
*On Sunday, May 25, the youth will be hosting a “service auction” which will give you the opportunity to purchase the service of a youth to help you with some of the chores/tasks around your home. Our youth are doing this to earn some extra money for their trip to Centrifuge this summer.
*A VBS Blitz will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 1. You are encouraged to put this on your calendar as we are going to let our neighborhood know of the upcoming special event for their children.
I look forward to seeing you tonight for our fellowship meal and for our small groups. Be certain of my prayers for you. If you would like for me to pray specifically with you about any matters, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
By the way, we are slowly updating the website and getting the site back to its usefulness. Today we will begin posting the Missive back online through my blog – you can find a link to the pastor’s blog on the bottom of the front page of the website: www. Metairiebc.org. In the immediate days ahead, we are going to begin the process of updating the services and the bulletins on a regular basis.
May God bless you richly!
